Beryl Cook, Poole & Manchester Calendars

It has come to that time of year where people are looking forward to the New Years Eve celebrations and the start of 2009. With the change of the year people are starting to turn their attention to getting themselves a new calendar for 2009. Calendars are a great gift for the New Year and there are so many calendars available that you can find one to match anybodies personality.

You usually find that you get the regular calendars featuring male and female TV stars, Premiership football clubs, cats and puppies and more but in Britain we also have a habit of buying quirky and strange calendars. A calendar can represent the broad range of personalities that there are in Britain and the Calendar club give regular reports on what is hot and what is not in the world of calendars.

Landscapes and nature are a popular choice and come in a variety of styles. You tend to get a lot of calendars that have photographs of areas of outstanding natural beauty in the United Kingdom and these usually look like an advert for British walking holidays and seaside towns. There are countless examples of areas such as Bournemouth and Poole beaches, folks walking in the Lancashire meadows and english castles. You will also find metropolitain landscapes featuring many of the UK’s biggest cities and towns in some of the most popular streets in these areas. London, Birmingham and Manchester are typically featured as they have many famous landmarks but as well as this you also get to see all the Manchester restaurants and London buses.

Artist calendars are always popular whether they feature painted landscapes, photos of people and places, portraits or abstract art. Artwork calendars are either a selection of individual artwork by a single artist or a collection of art prints by a range of artists. Beryl Cook is an extremely fashionable British artist from Plymouth, that has a very popular calendar of Beryl Cook prints. Other artists like Tim Bulmer and Doug Hyde also have their work featured as a collection of British artists work.

As for the quirky calendars, Britain has a vast history of producing interesting calendars to raise money for charity. Some recent inclusions and additions have been the naked farmers and the almost naked pictures of Women’s Institute members, which went on to become a film. In 2009 tractors are a popular theme, with one calendar having a different picture of a tractor for every day of the year. Then there are the puppies practising their yoga and water skiing plus goats too are a very popular calendar to have in 2009. There is however one unstoppable calendar giant that sells by the bucket load each year and hasn’t been out of the top 10 for the past 25 years and that man is Cliff Richard!
