Wrinkles – What You Should Know About Wrinkles

by Amanda Beaty

It is no secret that having smooth skin is considered to be very sexy, so despite their name, having laugh lines is no laughing matter. When you smile and laugh the small wrinkles that appear on the outside corners of your eyes tend to deepen and become more noticeable over time. Keeping these lines and other signs of aging at bay is no easy task, unless, of course, you are able to maintain an ideal weight, keep to the shade, avoid any and all pollution and never laugh. But don’t despair; as with all appearances of aging, there are lots of small easy steps you can take throughout your life to minimize the problem.

The face is not the only place that wrinkles appear, but since this is the main part of yourself that other people see, this is the main area of concentration. Two ideas that anyone can do easily are to wear sunscreen in the summer and avoid rapid weight gain and loss. These two simple ideas can greatly improve the quality of your skin.

With growing age, the fat tissues beneath the skin start breaking down, causing the skin to lose its elasticity. And over the years, our skin which could easily regain its composure after getting stretched during course of normal actions like laughing or making faces, loses this ability resulting in the formation of wrinkles. It is true that the adverse impact of time and nature on our skin cannot be stopped, yet there are no reasons to let ourselves surrendered and lose our fight against aging.

Remember that anyone who has spent lots of time sunbathing without protection will eventually pay the price. Those who have abused their bodies by smoking will probably develop more facial wrinkles. And, anyone who has failed to follow basic nutritional guidelines or has lost and then gained lots of weight repeatedly will look back in regret.

One fundamental guideline of skin care is to always ensure good nourishment for the skin. For this it is essential to have a properly balanced daily diet comprising of essential vitamins, minerals and other vital elements. According to several dermatological studies, a diet lacking in Vitamin C and crucial fatty acid like linoleic acid, an Omega-6 fatty acid available in flower oils, leads to premature skin aging, atrophy and profuse amount of wrinkles. Similarly, fats and carbohydrates rich diets produce negative and adverse impact on the appearance of our skin.

No matter how careful you are, sweat, dirt and pollution will get into your pores. Be careful in your selection of facial cleansers to fit your unique skin type. Any facial cleanser with fantastic claims of making you look younger will only damage your face if it is not what you need and may even increase the wrinkles on your face.

Be sure to check the list of ingredients before you put anything on your skin, especially your face. If you know you are allergic to any of the ingredients don’t use the product and if you see a list of long, complicated, confusing names do a little research to make sure that you are not trading wrinkles for cancer. Presently, the trend is toward natural and organic products, which tend to have a more gentle touch, and many companies are offering new, mild skin care possibilities.

Above all, being sensible remains the best method to ensure a healthy skin and keep it free from wrinkles. It is true that we may not have any way to deal with our bad genes or inherent susceptibility to sun exposure, yet there are some easier steps like proper and full understanding of product ingredients before using them or simpler ways like wearing a hat while roaming on the beaches, that could help us greatly in maintaining a healthy and youthful skin appearance.
