Balloon Ride

There are so many wonders to see each and every day of our lives. There are some days when life is rushing past us that it may see that there is nothing special about our surroundings, but just by taking a look around us we can usually see something truly remarkable. There are times when it is something in nature that makes me stop and glory in the moment. Other times it might be something that is man made that is spectacular. Whether it is created by man or nature it is good for the soul to stop, admire, praise and give thanks for all of life’s wonders.

I was reminded of this by my six year old grand daughter a few days ago. She had been running a temperature in the morning so the day care would not let her stay. My daughter, the mother of the six year old, was in surgery and could not go pick her up. Her husband was out of town on business. My husband was also out of state on a hunting trip. This left me to drop everything, rearrange my schedule and go to the day care. I told my office that I could be reached at home and I took my lap-top with me so that I could get some work done. When I arrived at the day care my grand daughter was dressed and ready to go. She told me that she did not feel sick; she asked if we could play in the park and have lunch. I explained that we needed to get to my house as soon as possible in case my work would call. As we were going to the car my grand daughter stood staring at the sky. There was a hot air balloon floating towards the park. This was very exciting to her. The hot air balloon was very close to the ground. The colors of the balloon were quite vibrant against the blue sky.

My grand daughter was jumping up and down with excitement over the hot air balloon. She wanted to follow it so we could see it up close. My first response was irritation, because she did not appear ill and I was still thinking of all the things that I had to switch around from work. After I buckled her in and got behind the wheel, I looked into the park. The hot air balloon was just beginning to descend in an opened area. It was really magical to watch. I headed for the park to get as close as I could with the car. My grand daughter and I then walked over to where they were tethering the hot air balloon to the ground so a passenger could get in. My granddaughter was speechless she was so awe struck by the size of the hot air balloon. I was so glad that I had taken the time to share this wonder filled moment with her. I will never remember what paper work was supposed to get done that day, but I will never forget the look of wonder in my grand daughter’s eyes.
