Research Study Reveal Women Love Sex As Much As Men The title statistic was determined by Dr. Paige Padgett at the University of Texas. Padgett’s 2007 study entitled “Personal Safety and Sexual Safety for Women Using Online Personal Ads” was published in a widely respected journal of the National Sexuality Research Center (Research & Social Policy Journal).

Dr. Padgett’s research involved seven hundred forty (740) women who had put dating profiles online seeking men. The result of the study: Earthshattering!! Thirty-three percent (33%) of the women daters had sex on the 1st date. Even more shocking, seventy-seven percent (77%) of them didn’t use a condom.

Virtual Intimacy Theory Padgett’s conclusion was not that these women are merely sluts. Rather she discovered that women who would otherwise be cautious may engage in unprotected sex because they are lulled into a sense of virtual intimacy.

Padgett concludes that “virtual intimacy” was fostered by a high level of disclosure and frequency of e-mail exchanges with the men they eventual slept with on the 1st date. She discovered that before meeting face-to-face, the women exchanged information about their backgrounds, likes & dislikes, and even sexual preferences.

This Padgett says created the “virtual intimacy” a sense that a relationship might or might not exist but may encourage sexual intimacy at a faster rate than what would develop through conventional methods.

So What Does This Mean For Men? The essential message for guys: Begin Online Dating Today! It’s less expensive than going to bars and clubs and you will have more success and have sex on 1st dates more often. But definitely use protection.

My take on Padgett and her study: Her interpretation of the data is overly paternalistic and paints women as helpless creatures taken in by men that create a sphere of “virtual intimacy”. Bullshit!

Let’s Use A Little Common Sense To Distill The Padgett’s Study. Give women the credit they deserve: They know what they want. Women are looking for attractive mates who meet their dating qualifications. They select one or more candidates from the innumerable men that email them. Lastly, they query the candidates to determine if the man in question meets their dating qualifications. If so, it’s sexy time!

If you really examine what’s going on here, you’ll realize that it’s the women pressing the fast forward button on the sexual relationship. The women in the study (and all online women daters) want to learn as much about a potential mate as possible, whether by email or over the phone before meeting face-to-face.

Why? To allow themselves to engage in sexual congress as soon as possible. Once a woman convinces herself that a man meets her criteria she will sleep with him. And in every case in Padgett’s study, the women had already decided through email and telephone conversations that the particular man in question met her criteria or at least enough of the criteria to warrant sex!

Putting Padgett’s Study To Work For You. The bottom line here is: women want sex just as much as you do. But, and this is the most important factor I’ve gleaned from Padgett’s study and from my own online dating experiences: Women want to convince themselves that you are a Quality Guy and that you meet their criteria.

This is where so many guys shoot themselves in the foot. They think that they must have (1) money; (2) power; or (3) fame to succeed with women. Simply not true. Here’s my secret that is backed up by Padgett’s findings: To succeed in online dating the only thing you need to do is not disqualify yourself. Women have questions, yes. They have criteria, yes.

However, women only require that you reply to their questions or hold yourself out in fairly open manner in order for them to say to themselves, “Hey this gentleman seems normal, he’s available, and he’s mine.” At this point, they’ll grant themselves permission to have sex with you.
