Seventh Plein Air Event, in Augusta

Each spring, at the end of April, Augusta, Missouri, in Historic Missouri Wine Country, attract artists from Missouri and the surrounding states to the Augusta Plein Air Art Event 2009. Artists will be practicing their craft in the heritage of Plein Air (outdoors), capturing the subtlties of natural sunlight in their work. This year artists will start to arrive on April 22nd and may be found painting through May 2nd.

Visitors have always been attracted to the historic sites and scenic vistas, and now the artisians have found not only the panorama waiting to be captured on their canvases, but also have experienced the gracious hospitality of the area. Discover a beautiful scene and you will likely spot an artist. Relax at one of the sponsors and [/spin]boserve|watch[/spin] the artist at play and join in the experience of judging and awards. You may want to purchase a piece of artwork to remember the day.

Judging, awards, sale & auction are held on the final day, Saturday, May 2nd. A total of approximately $6000 shall be awarded in prizes. Winning artwork may be sold at auction and artisians will be showing/selling art work all day.

Everyone is encouraged to visit the area, visit with the artists, experience a beautiful day, and even purchase a piece of artwork for your collection. An excellent Northeast Missouri attractions. On any day between April 22nd to May 2nd, you are likely to find one or more artists anywhere you discover one of these beautiful views. Nearly 100 artists from Missouri and the surrounding states are expected to be entered in the 7th Annual Augusta Plein Air Art Event.

Everyone will want to taste some wine, you may want to enjoy a lunch, or you may want to tour the shops. You are certain to get an opportunity to watch and wonder at the work of a visiting artist. Some of the businesses will be sponsoring an event for the artists, during which they will be painting at that business and offering their art for purchase. It is indeed a unique opportunityheld at the American Legion in Augusta. This sale provides a wonderful chance to acquire high quality art from the artists themselves.
