The Christian Petersen Art Museum – Ames, Iowa (ISU)

Iowa tourism offers a great deal of different attractions but one of them that will certainly be worth your while is a visit to the new Christian Petersen Art Museum in Ames. Christian Petersen was a sculpture that was the first artist-in-residence at any college in the nation between 1937 and 1955 with his work going back as far as 1935.

The new museum is located at Morrill Hall on the ISU campus offering a wide display of works by different artists. There are over 3,000 objects ranging in size from large sculptures to sketches on paper exhibited and stored at the museum.

You can see the Lyle and Nancy Campbell Art Gallery, the Roy and Bobbi Reiman Public Art Studio Gallery, the Margaret Davidson Center for the Study of the Art on Campus Collection, the Edith D. and Torsten E. Lagerstrom Loaned Collections Center, and the Neva M. Petersen Visual Learning Gallery.
