Custom Designing Corporate Logos For Construction Firms
The construction arena is very competitive indeed. More prominent firms handle the larger development jobs while smaller and newer ones must prove their quality with various subcontracts before moving on to major ones.
My design company has just been awarded an assignment to produce a new logo samples for a local construction business. To kick off the assignment, the art director and I visited our client’s office for a short interview to garner more information about the company.
Like many others we have surveyed, most companies are aware they need a new outlook to remain competitive but are not really sure what they want. That is where we come in.
Before embarking on the logo design, we ordinarily inquire about the company history, its turnover, its goals, its specialty, its target market and the reason it wants a new logo samples; just to get a better perception of things.
We learned that they are a relatively young organization, 9 years in the business with 4 important subcontract projects and many smaller ones under their belts, each one larger than the last. They are now seeking to adopt a blue ocean strategy and venture into eco-friendly medium cost suburban development – a niche with a low number of competitors – and therefore seizing the opportunity to build a reputation for themselves as one of the earliest names to service this niche.
From the dialogue, we found out that they have the needed resources to engage medium scale development projects. Their chosen niche has rendered it much easier to distinguish them from other developers.
At our studio, we had our normal brainstorming session and and decided on the concept we would finally adopt. After that we employed the expertise of 4 designers to produce individual interpretations or construction company logo design to turn those creative ideas to logo designs.
After a number of days, the logo concepts were ready for show. Some designs utilized stylized text while others used construction related graphics like levelers and trowels to get the point across. Though all 4 logo samples samples were unique in their own way, they all kept to to two primary points.
Professionalism
Developers deal with costly projects. To qualify for such projects, they must always be seen as a professional and responsible organization with ideal business ethics. Therefore, the neat and clear designs reflected that appropriately.
Eco-Friendliness
This is the niche this firm is determined to penetrate. Needless to say, the designs, either by color or graphics, further impresses the company’s dedication to the preservation of the environment.
Now it is up to our clients to decide on which of the four designs they prefer. Alternatively they can certainly make minor changes but as professional designers, we must make sure that the design eventually keeps to the key points mentioned earlier.
