Concrete Polishing for Countertops
More designers and home owners are using the concrete polishing to boost their real estate sales. Counter tops are other areas where home owner and designer like to use the concrete polishing.
How do polished concrete counter tops look like? They are warm natural looking material that corresponds with the popularity of more natural materials like wood, stone, and brick. Each contractor has their own special designs.
Contractors will use chemical stains, coloring pigments, various aggregates, and epoxy coatings to help make the concrete look, texture, and feel of quarried stone such as marble, granite, and limestone.
How are polished concrete counter tops made? Concrete Polishing counter tops can be made from a shop or at the site. When contractors make it from their shop, they usually have a mold ready for them to put and design the counter top. With counter tops made on site they are when contractors like to form the counter tops with the particular designs and needs that the client wants.
What materials is being use? The concrete counter tops are of course made of cement added by light weighted aggregate and some additives. An example of additive is fiber reinforcement, silica fume pozzolan, and acrylic
An example of fiber reinforcement is like structural steel, wire mesh and fiberglass, contractors will use one or more of these materials. The next process will be to let the counter tops cured. After which the contractor uses a machine with progressively finer diamond polishing stones. This will help make the concrete counter top shine.
Even though contractors use different kind of sealer in concrete polishing, they will always use a sealer. Epoxy is one type of sealers that some contractors use. They like using this because the epoxy is harder than the cement and it is a cheap material. It will usually take two weeks for the double coated epoxy to dry. Making this a little costly, but it is worth the cost due to the excellent quality that you get in return.
