My Dog Chewed Up My Lanyard!

So last weekend, I went to this really cool car convention with my parents. Many pets were available from every breed, lots of food, and, of course, tons of booths giving away free stuff. After looking at a many of the pets available with my parents, my little sister and I took a stroll over to some of the booths after eating a delicious and unhealthy, chili-dog lunch. First we went to the State Farm Booth because they were giving away these awesome pulp coaster with their logo on it. My sister really wanted to get one, but I didn’t really care for one.

Later on down the line of booths, I saw a booth with Air Force recruiters who were giving away these really awesome green Marine lanyards. I pleaded to my little sister to stop at that booth with me, but she wouldn’t go. The Air Force recruiting booth had their very own custom lanyards! How could I let that opportunity go? I finally traveled to the booth alone because Abbi wasn’t that interested. When I went to the booth not only did they have custom lanyards but they had pulp coasters too! I was ridiculously excited!

After talking with the recruiters for a while and signing up for an e-mail newsletter account, I was given a poster and a pen. It was the coolest pop poster and writing pen that I had ever seen. When we got home, I turned that poster into my very own wall decoration. My excellent signatures were on it as well as my gym membership scanning card. I was extremely hip. I remember setting my new lanyard down my desk and it may have fallen on the floor, but sometime late that evening, my lanyard was assaulted! I found it sitting on my bedroom floor all torn up and shredded to pieces. I first suspected my dog because you wouldn’t have been able to see that it was a lanyard anymore. My lanyard was gone and now I needed a new one. I would never get another custom lanyard like the one that I got at the car convention . I decided that I would wait until next year when the car convention came back and I could get another lanyard. I still have my cool pulp coaster though!

Merchant Marine recruiter came to our school yesterday though, and when I heard it over the intercom, I was excited. I was going to go to the recruiter and beg and plead for another custom lanyard. I swore that I would get one before the afternoon.

When we all arrived at the recruiter’s meeting I couldn’t ask him right away. I had to stand through a whole session of informational speech and never-ending questions. At the end of the meeting though, he offered the cool lanyards. Everybody wanted one, because, you know, I started that whole new trend , so I was like last in line. He had one lanyard left so me and this freshman had to battle it out . Lets just say, I have this really awesomely cool new custom lanyard, from the Merchant Marines; and I still have my coaster.
