Three Of The Military Branches Of The United States Of America

In America there are five different military branches that are available to join to serve the nation. The different branches are Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines and the Coast Guard. All of them are a bit different from each other but the main thing they have in common is that they help to serve and protect the citizens of the United States of America. Whatever branch people choose to become a part of is what they chose and wanted to become part of and there is a deep loyalty to that specific branch as well. Many active duty members as well as retired veterans of the military proudly display their branch in different ways like wearing military t-shirts or a military t-shirt with their branch on it or decorating their home or car with decals and other mementos with their branch on it also. This article mention 3 out of the five branches, the Army, Navy and the Air Force.

The Army is responsible for handling the defense and protection of the nation on the ground. This is done by use of ground troops, tanks, helicopters and tactical nuclear weapons. It is the oldest of all of the branches having started on June 14, 1775. It is also the largest of all of the branches as well with 76,000 officers and more than 400,000 enlisted members that are on active duty. The Army is also supported by two reserve groups that are the Army Reserves and the Army National Guard. Each state has a separate National Guard unit but in times of conflict, The President of America can call upon the assistance of the National Guard at any time.

The Navy was also created in 1775, such as the Army and their main responsibility is handling the maintain the freedom of the seas. In order to do this they have navy ships, cruise missiles, submarines and also huge aircraft carriers that can house up to 80 aircraft. The Navy often assists the Air Force with getting air service to areas that are in conflict with the help of their ships. The Navy is also responsible for getting the Marines to places in conflict as well. They are definitely intertwined with other branches. They do not have a Naval National Guard to assist them such as the Army does but some states have groups known as Naval Militias.

The Air Force is the youngest branch having been started in 1947. They used to be a section of the Army but after World War II the need for better forces in the air was seen. The Air Force has the job of defending the US through air and space using several various kinds of aircrafts. They are also responsible for military satellites and the nations nuclear missiles. They are assisted by the Air Force Reserves and the Air National Guard as well.

Whether our country needs to be protected on land, on the ocean or in the air, these 3 military branches are ready for it all related to security and protection.
