As a youngster, our parents would decide how our days were to be spent. The parents decide their bedtime. We are told when to go to school. We are not given a lot of choice in our diets. As we grow older, we start to have more say in many decisions. Unfortunately, no matter what we do, there are still others who have some say in how we do things.

One thing that does not have to be controlled by others is the shape of our body. We also decide how much of that food to eat. We can decide if we want to spend some of our evening doing sets of six pack ab exercises, or if we rather stuff our face with popcorn as we watch some movies on the big screen television in our living room. We can also decide when we have had enough of being overweight, and do something about it. It is easy to know if we are overweight. Doing something about being overweight is not as simple to fix. We are taught from a young age that the things that we want the most are often the hardest to attain. Losing weight is an example of something that requires effort.
There are many good reasons to make the decision to get fit and healthy. By being fat, you can invite many things into your life that will shorten it. By getting fit and trim, those illnesses can disappear and allow a person to get off medications that they used to have to take. Many of us don’t understand what we did wrong to gain the weight that we did.
